Hyundai Creta and Venue Help HMIL Record Nearly 60,000 Sales in September 2020

Hyundai Motor registers 50,313 unit sales domestically along with 9,600 export units in September 2020. A large reason for this great sales performance is the high popularity of new Hyundai Creta and Venue

Hyundai Motor India has registered almost 60,000 car sales in India in September 2020. The South Korean carmaker has announced that it has retailed 50,313 vehicles in the domestic market and exported as many as 9,600 units for the month of September 2020, thereby leading to a cumulative sale figure of 59,913 units.

That said, the domestic sales of Hyundai increased by 23.6 per cent last month when compared to 40,705 units registered in September 2019. However, the export sales suffered from a steep dip of 43.5 per cent as against 17,000 units shipped in the year-ago period. When we take the cumulative sales number into account, Hyundai has achieved a sales growth of 3.8 per cent as opposed to 57,705 units sold in the same month last year.

As compared with Hyundai August 2020 sales, India’s second-largest carmaker has witnessed a massive increase, with 45,809 units sold domestically and 6,800 exports units in the month of August. That is incredible, from 0 unit sales in April 2020, Hyundai managed to deliver 6,883 units in May, 21,320 units in June and sells 38.200 units in July. All these figures show us the rapid recovery of the automobile sector which was seriously impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and the nationwide lockdown.

We are confident that the coming festive season will drive the market on a steady recovery path with positive customer sentiments”, said Mr Tarun Garg, Director of Sales, Marketing and Service, Hyundai Motor India Ltd.

Hyundai Motor India has recently launched a new initiative named “Smart Cars for Smart India”, aimed at the ‘Smart Indian Millennial Customers” who are the modern and tech-savvy buyers of the Santro, Grand i10 Nios and Aura. It’s worth noting that Hyundai has been among the pioneers that offer online car shopping system for its buyers during the tough period of Covid-19 pandemic.

In another development, the carmaker is now gearing up for the introduction of the new-gen Hyundai i20 this festive season. The upcoming 2020 Hyundai i20 will come with three engine options found under the Venue’s bonnet - a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine along with a 1.5-litre diesel unit. The new-gen i20 will join the competition against the Tata Altroz, Maruti Baleno, Honda Jazz and Toyota Glanza in the premium hatchback department.
