This last-generation Hyundai Creta gets dual sunroofs from the aftermarket route. Take a look at the double Webasto PopUp 100 setup on this compact SUV
Sunroofs are the new yardstick to measure a car’s cool-quotient in the Indian automotive industry these days. Carmakers are now offering full-size panoramic units in sub-compact SUVs like Hyundai Creta, MG Hector, and Tata Harrier, whereas, single-pane sunroofs can be seen on cars as small as Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. However, one can fit a sunroof or two as an accessory in a car via the aftermarket route. Yes! You read it right. We meant two. Here’s a set of pictures of the last-gen Creta, where the owner has managed to install two aftermarket sunroofs in his car. Although, these aren’t the sliding type units. They are pop-up type, instead.
These pop-up sunroofs are reportedly sourced from Webasto and are from the Hollandia 100 range of the manufacturer. The cost of installing such a sunroof comes up close to Rs. 15,000. For this dual sunroof setup, it totals to Rs. 30,000 only. Sadly, they are not electrically operated, and one needs to pull and push a mechanical lever to operate these sunroofs. Talking of the installation process, the tuner has to cut a part of the roof to fit them in place.
However, these units are free from any electrical malfunction as they do not require any electronic fittings. But, these modifications come at an added cost of the structural integrity of the car. Also, there are chances of leakage and rusting issues in case the technician is not sound enough. Thus, it is advised to stay away from such modifications or opt for cars that come with a factory-fitted unit.
Now, Hyundai Creta is sold in its new-gen avatar, which comes with a full-size panoramic sunroof. It is priced in between Rs. 9.82 lakh and Rs. 17.32 lakh. The option of the sunroof, however, is limited to the top-spec trim only. The new-gen Creta competes against the likes of MG Hector, Kia Seltos, and more. The powertrain options on the new-gen Creta include a 1.5L petrol motor, 1.5L diesel engine, and a 1.4L turbo-petrol unit. The gearbox options, on the other hand, comprise of a 6-speed MT, 6-speed AT, CVT, and 7-speed DCT.
