In which the owner claims to it to be the first third-gen top trim diesel Hyundai i20 in India, we take a first drive review of the car in the video below and ask the owner if the hefty increase in price over the Elite i20 has been worth it.

The third-generation i20 was just launched a few days back as Hyundai wanted customers to get the option for an all-new model this Diwali. The new i20 gets Hyundais new Sensuous Sportiness design language with signature visual cues like the new jewel pattern grille is flanked by new Projector LED and LED DRLS, while the side profile gets new creases and wedge-shaped cuts and gets chrome side inserts on the windows which leads to a more aggressive stance. Brand new Z-shaped LED tail lamps are bridged by a chrome strip instead of the LED lightbar found on the international models.

In the video uploaded by the DDS channel on youtube, they interview the owners of one of the first new i20s in India as well as first drive review of the vehicle as well. Talking about the price hike, the owner says it is justified as the new variant comes with features and specs which weren’t available in the Elite i10. The all-new Hyundai i20 in this Asta trim comes loaded with features like an all-digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with integrated Android Auto and Apple Carplay, an electric sunroof, over 50 connected car features, OTA updates, and a Bose audio system.

The car in the video is the 1.5 litre turbo 4-pot diesel which makes 100Ps/240Nm of max power and torque figures. This means the new Hyundai i20 is an enjoyable drive, going into corners with great vigour and encourages you to keep the speeds up. This is helped by the new stiffer suspension, and it strikes a very good balance between ride and handling. But the steering is a bit of a letdown, as in typical Hyundai fashion is very light which is great in the city but it doesn’t weigh up as speeds rise making you lose the feel of what the wheels are doing at higher speeds. NVH and refinement are class-leading with the engine noise sliding away to the background and wind noise minimal if any.
