Hyundai Kona EV vs MG ZS EV In A Drag Race

The trend of drag racing is getting quite popular among enthusiasts around the country. Many enthusiasts in India organize such races to check test the capabilities of their cars. Earlier, we’ve covered a lot of drag races on our website, but this one is quite different. Here’s a recent drag race video between Hyundai Kona EV and MG ZS EV. The interesting part is that both the SUVs are powered by electric motors. Check out the video embedded below to know the amazing results. 

This video is uploaded by a YouTube channel named as evo India. In total evo India has conducted two rounds of the drag race. All the electricals including headlamps and air conditioning were turned off for better performance. In the first round, MG ZS EV takes the lead and remained ahead of Hyundai Kona till the finish line. Hyundai Kona loses the race from the MG SUV by a very minimal margin. In the second round, both the drivers were switched. Again, the ZS EV takes the lead and defeats the Hyundai Kona by a bigger margin. In the first round, MG ZS EV accelerated from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.04 seconds, while the Hyundai Kona does the same job in 8.64 seconds.

On the other hand, in the second round, the ZS EV took 7.96 seconds to reach 100 kmph mark and completed the sprint in 8.34 seconds. Mechanically, the MG ZS EV is powered by a 44.2 kWh electric motor, which churns out power and torque outputs of 143 PS and 353 Nm. Hyundai Kona is propelled by a 39.2 kWh motor that produces power and torque outputs of 136 PS and 394 Nm. Hyundai Kona is rated to offer 452 km of range, while the MG ZS EV claims to offer 340 km. The MG ZS EV has priced between Rs 20.88 lakh to Rs 23.58 lakh and the Hyundai Kona EV carries a price tag of Rs 23.70 lakh.
