Is This How The 2020 Mahindra Scorpio Would Look Like?

The new-gen Mahindra Scorpio has started to be put on tests to prepare for its upcoming launch, which is projected to take place next year. Based on the spy shots, a rendering of the vehicle in the front and on the side profile has been created.

Since its launch in 2002, this will be the first time that the Mahindra Scorpio has experienced such thorough updates.  As can be seen in the rendering, in the front, the 2020 Scorpio will sport a more masculine hexagonal radiator grille with rounded ends and chrome vertical slats, sharper projector headlamps, a raised bonnet with a more angular air scoop, a larger lower grille, upright fog lamps housings, a brand-new bumper and a larger skid plate.

On the side profile, the new Mahindra Scorpio is expected to be hunched back slightly more than the existing model which sports a completely upright posture. Inspired by the newest design, it back glass will be a little bit raked. The beltline which stretches from the middle of the rear doors has been raised to a remarkable degree. Moreover, the domestic automaker will redesign the wheel arches to make it more muscular, which helps highlight the ruggedness of the vehicle. Overall, the SUV will be transformed totally in terms of its appearance to become a nearly new product; however, the SUV nature will be kept intact.

While many new features have been added to the side profile of the vehicle, the SUV nature is still maintained.

As revealed by the spy shots, in terms of the interior, the new-gen Scorpio will come with a larger and higher dashboard layout. Upright central air vents will take the place of the horizontal ones. Flanked by these vents is an all-new touchscreen infotainment setup. Several components including the driving wheel, control stalks, gear knob will be borrowed from the Marazzo, which will help the expenses involved in the development and manufacturing process kept under control.

The 2020 Mahindra Scorpio engine is a new BSVI-compliant 2.0-litre diesel motor which has been adjusted to generate up to 160 PS. This new motor will be lighter than the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel motor which serves as the power source for its predecessor. The transmission duties will be undertaken by either a 6-speed MT or 6-speed AT gearbox. Moreover, an AWD system will be provided as an optional feature in the next-gen Mahindra Scorpio.

The 2020 Scorpio will be underpinned by an updated platform of the existing model. Expected to be officially debuted at the Auto Expo 2020, the vehicle is likely to be priced in the range from INR 10 lakh to INR 11 lakh (ex-showroom).
