Jeep is a brand that is known for producing some of the most capable SUVs in the world. In the year 1965, homegrown carmaker – Mahindra, started manufacturing and selling Jeep in the Indian market. Interestingly, the Jeep roots and legacy are carried forward to the 2020 Mahindra Thar as well. Thus, it won’t be wrong to say that Thar is the Jeep of India. On the other hand, Jeep made its India debut in the year 2016 with its smallest offering – Jeep Compass. While this makes for a great comparison between the two cars, here’s a YouTube video that takes the term interesting to new heights. In this video, the Jeep Compass and the 2020 Mahindra Thar are drag racing against each other.

Moving over to the drag race, the host begins the first attempt by leaving the traction control system on and turning the air conditioning off. In the second attempt, the host engaged 4H mode on the Thar to have better traction. However, the Jeep Compass still managed to take a lead with a timing of 18.72 seconds for completing the quarter-mile run. The Thar, on the other hand, took 20.04 seconds. It can be concluded that 2020 Mahindra Thar comes packed with great performance, even though it is a heavy car and is shaped like a brick. The Jeep Compass with the petrol engine performed better than the Thar in this test, but its diesel variant could’ve been even faster.
