Former captain of the Indian cricket team, Kapil Dev has just bought a new red Jeep Compass.

Kapil Dev – the Indian cricket captain that was in charge when India first won the World Cup in 1983. Recently, the legendary cricketer has joined the list of celebrity owners of the American SUV Jeep Compass. The company official media handle has tweeted some pictures of Kapil Dev on the delivery of the Compass. While we are still dark on the exact variant of the Jeep Compass bought by the famous cricket player, the attractive red colour of the SUV hints that it might be the Limited Plus version. The list of Indian celebrities that possess the Jeep Compass should include names like Akshay Kumar, Tapasee Pannu, Rohit Roy, Rhea Chakroborty, Jacqueline Fernandez among others. Surely, the list will not stop here.

Currently, the Jeep Compass is the most affordable yet popular SUV in Jeep India’s product range. It is essentially the cash ringer of the American carmaker in India and the fierce rivals of some vehicles like Tata Harrier, MG Hector and the newly-introduced Kia Seltos. Though newer models come to take their tolls on the sales of Jeep Compass in the last few months, it remains on top favourite choices for many in the segment.

The Jeep Compass Limited Plus was launched in India after the arrival of MG Hector. It is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that churns out 170 BHP of power and 350 Nm of torque and gets the support from a 6-speed manual transmission. The same motor also powers models like Tata Harrier and MG Hector. Jeep Compass is also offered with a range of variants in the Indian market. Apart from the diesel engine, the SUV is available with a 1.4-litre 4-cylinder Multiar petrol engine that produces 160 BHP and 250 Nm of torque. It comes mated to either a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic unit. Recently, a sportier variant of the Compass, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk has gone one sale in the country. The newly-launched SUV comes with a 2.0-litre Multijet oil engine and a 9-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission. The same combination is expected to be offered in the lower variant too.
