Here, we have a video of the performance test of the diesel Kia Seltos with a manual gearbox. The performance was tested in terms of 0 to 100 kmph acceleration runs.

Kia Motor India’s bestselling SUV, the Seltos, is available with three engine options. Out of those three, the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol is the performance-oriented choice, while the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor is the cheap, entry-level version. So where does that leave the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine? Well, while it may not be as powerful as the turbo-petrol unit, its massive wave of torque is enough to propel it forward with a lot of urgency. To properly gauge the performance we got a Seltos diesel and performed an acceleration test on it!

The video above consists of a real-world performance test of the Kia Seltos. This particular model is the diesel-powered variant with a 6-speed manual transmission. The motor generates a maximum power of 115 PS and a peak torque of 250 Nm. To accurately gauge the real-world performance, the AC has been left running and there are two people in the car – a driver and a passenger. Three test runs from 0 to 100 kmph were performed in the same conditions, and the results were noted to be consistently impressive.

Kia Seltos 1.5 Diesel MT 0-100 kmph Acceleration Test

During the first run, you can see that that the car eagerly starts to run, and even though this is a diesel engine, it revs quite nicely. The car takes 12.23 seconds to reach 100 kmph from a standstill, which is extremely impressive. In the second run, we see the time improve slightly, with a total of 11.87 seconds taken. In the last run, we were able to achieve an even better acceleration time, with the Seltos taking just 11.75 seconds to go from 0 to 100 kmph. Overall, we are quite impressed with the performance.

Interestingly, the mechanical twin of the Seltos, Hyundai Creta, has slightly lower performance. We previously tested the Hyundai Creta (diesel engine with manual transmission) in similar conditions (AC turned on and two people on-board). The best time we could achieve in that car was 12.23 seconds for a 0-100 kmph run. That said, the difference isn’t too major, and in the real world, both the cars shall be neck to neck.
