After stealing wheels of new-gen Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos recently, thieves have now targeted two more Kia Seltos which were parked in the same locality.
The reports of alloy wheel theft have been coming over from every part of the country. However, the most number of cases that have been observed so far are for two of the most celebrated mechanical twins in the Indian automobile industry. We are talking of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos here. Recently, thieves made away with alloy wheels of a new-gen Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos parked together and now, pictures of a similar incident have surfaced on the internet, where the thieves have robbed the wheels of two Seltos which were parked in the same locality. One of these was the regular Tech Line trim, while the other was the sportier GT Line option. Both these trim options of the Seltos come with a different design for the alloy wheels.
The Tech Line trim comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, while the GT Line sports 17-inch dual-tone units. However, the thieves followed a weird trend here, as they did not steal the front left wheels of the cars. We are not aware of the reason for doing so, but we can surely give you certain tips to avoid losing your flashy alloy wheels.
Use locking lug nuts to secure the wheels, as these lug nuts can only be opened with a set of specific keys.
Parking your car sideways to a wall with its front wheels steered towards the wall itself. This way the thieves will not be able to access the wheels of the car that are towards the wall, and since the front wheels are also turned towards the wall, it becomes tough to reach their lug nuts with the spanner. Although one of the wheels will still be left exposed, but that’s much better than losing them all.
Talking of the Seltos’s mechanical specifications, it is offered with 3 engine options – 1.5L petrol, 1.5L diesel, and 1.4L turbocharged petrol. Also, it is offered with a slew of transmission options – 6-speed MT (standard with all engine options), CVT (1.5L petrol), 6-speed AT (1.5L diesel), and 7-speed DCT (1.4L turbocharged petrol). Prices of the Kia Seltos start at Rs. 9.89 lakh and tops out at Rs. 17.34 lakh.
