Kia Motors has brought a hit to the Indian car space, the Kia Seltos. Launched with a bang in August 2019, the Kia Seltos has created quite a buzz in the country and becomes the bestseller in the SUV segment. The Kia Seltos is a global SUV and despite not having a 4x4 system in the Indian market, there are some international models that do offer this feature, thus making it much more capable.

Launched in India in August, the Kia Seltos is now the best-selling model in the country's SUVs segment.

After its successful launches in many countries including India, the South Korean automobile manufacturer is now getting ready to introduce the Seltos SUV in the US market. Before that, the carmaker has already showcased the regular SUV with its two off-roading variants at the National Dealership Meet in the USA.

The American market is quite a large hub for big badass SUVs, and presently, the American auto giants like General Motors and Ford are running the show. In the stock version, Kia Seltos looks like a young handsome boy but it isn’t anywhere near the masculinity that's shown in Ford and Cadillac SUVs. Therefore, in order to grab more eyeballs of the Americans, Kia has introduced at the dealers meet two heavily modified variants of the Seltos SUV aside from the regular one. With special off-roading capabilities, the two concepts show us how the Seltos can be adapted to various terrains.

Apart from the regular model, two modified off-road versions of the Seltos have been displayed in the US ahead of its market launch.

The first modified version of the two is based on the white-coloured entry-level trim of the Seltos. The car has been equipped with an aftermarket off-road spec bumper, a new grille finished in matte black, bumper-mounted red towing hooks, blacked-out headlights, auxiliary lamps along with a hood scoop. The aftermarket bumper also features lamps but there are no fog lamps as it is the base model. The fog lamps housings get contrasting orange-coloured inserts. Four auxiliary lamps are fitted on the roof carrier. Also, the car has been lifted up a bit to accommodate bigger off-road spec tyres and featured with new suspension setup, that makes it ready to take on any challenging terrains.

The modified Seltos SUV comes with raised ground clearance, new suspension and aftermaket features that make it a more capable off-road vehicle.

The second modified Seltos version showcased by Kia Motors is a white-coloured model that is based on the top-of-the-line variant. It is quite a different kind of mod jobs that gets new wheels, a smaller off-road-focused front bumper, golden colour accents on the front and rear bumper along with side skirts.

The exact specifications of these vehicles are still not known and it also remains unknown if the brand would make such modifications available on the car once it’s launched. As for the Indian-spec model, the Kia Seltos is available in three engine options which can be had with a range of transmissions. Under the bonnet of the Kia SUV sits either a 115PS/144Nm 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol, a 115HP/250Nm 1.5-litre turbo-diesel motor, or a 140HP/242Nm 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol unit. Transmission options include a standard 6-speed manual gearbox along with an optional a CVT for the 1.5-litre petrol, a 6-speed torque converter for the 1.5-litre diesel and a 7-speed DCT for the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol model. The South Korean company is planning to launch a new Kia Carnival MPV and a subcompact SUV codenamed QYi.
