How about a Kia Seltos pickup truck that looks uber cool in a dual-tone paint job? Well, here's a speculative rendering of the pickup version of Hyundai Creta's cousin

The Kia Seltos has witnessed remarkable success in the Indian auto market with up to 97,000 units sold since its launch in August 2019. Had it not been for the lockdown, the sales number would have achieved 1 lakh units. Considering the fact that Hyundai is developing a seven-seater version of the new Hyundai Creta, one can't help but wonder if the Seltos would be given another body type, perhaps a pickup truck.

Several pickup trucks are being developed for the Indian auto market: the Toyota Hilux is being considered to be launched; the Ford Ranger has been spied testing on Indian roads. Noteworthily, pickup trucks are not highly popular body types of cars in India with the only model available being the Isuzu V-Cross. Therefore, we want to bring here a Seltos-based pickup truck rendered by Kleber Silva. Although this is only a rendering, the imagined pickup truck will surely catch people’s attention.

The design of the front has remained unchanged while the side profile seems almost the same up to the rear doors. The SUV now comes with a redesigned C-pillar and a loading bay in the rear quarter. Besides the glass section in the rear, all the features including the taillights, bumper with dual-tip faux exhausts, rear reflectors and skidplate have been kept the same as the regular Seltos. The pickup truck comes with functional roof rails, which is different from the non-function unit available on its donor vehicle. The roof rails also extend around the rear with a high-mounted brake light, which makes the SUV bear a stronger resemblance to a pickup truck. With so few design alterations, it is surprising to see how cool the Seltos looks in the pickup truck form.

There are no Kia pickup trucks even in the South Korean automaker’s international portfolio. In the meantime, Hyundai is developing an urban pickup truck, a unibody crossover truck, which borrows the platform from the Tucson. It is called the Santa Cruz and is likely to be globally debuted in 2021. Considering all of these, Kia is also anticipated to launch a pickup truck in the foreseeable future. If this segment sees newer models being introduced, even more mainstream auto manufacturers are also expected to enter this segment.
