Here’s the real-world fuel mileage of Kia Sonet 1.2-litre petrol engine.
The Korean automaker Kia recently launched its all-new sub-4-meter SUV in the Indian market named as Sonet. It is one of the most feature-loaded cars in its segment. It rivals with the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra XUV300. The entry-level trim of the Kia Sonet is propelled by a 1.2-litre petrol engine. The same powertrain does duties in Hyundai Venue, Aura and Grand i10 Nios. The 1.2-litre petrol engine is rated to offer 18.4 kmpl of fuel mileage. Here’s a recent video made by a Sonet owner who does fuel-efficiency test of the SUV.
This video is uploaded by a YouTube channel named as Amar Dayan. In the video, the vlogger first fills the petrol tank of the car full, and the instrument console displays 689 km of driving range. Afterwards, he drives his car in city traffic and also on the highways. After driving the car around 50 km, the owner of the car refills the fuel tank again, which give him exact mileage. The engine consumed 2.67-litre of fuel in 50 km, which brings the total fuel efficiency of the car to 18.73 kmpl. The mileage figure of the 2020 Kia Sonet is quite impressive. To conduct this test, a person needs to fill-up his fuel than and then drive it some kilometres and then fill it up again.
To get the mileage figure, divide the kilometre run by fuel refilled. Talking about Kia Sonet, it derives power from 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine. The former develops 83 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque, while the latter is offered in two states of tune and it puts out 110/115 PS and 240/250 Nm of twisting force. The petrol engine comes mated to a 5-speed MT, and the diesel unit comes paired with a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed MT. The SUV is also offered with a smaller 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor that produces power and torque outputs of 120 PS and 172 Nm. Transmission duties are done by a 6-speed iMT or 6-speed DCT.
