Kia Sonet Commands Longer Waiting Period Than Nissan Magnite

The sub-4m compact-SUV space is currently the hottest one in the Indian automotive scene. To have a respectable share of this pie, every carmaker is coming up with their iteration of a sub-4m compact-SUV. The newest entrants in the town are the Kia Sonet and the Nissan Magnite. While both of these cars are priced in a different fashion, they are managing to make big numbers on the sales chart. The Magnite starts at a rather affordable price tag of Rs. 5.48 lakh, whereas the Kia Sonet has a starting price of Rs. 6.79 lakh. Interestingly, it is the Sonet that manages to have a longer waiting period than the Nissan Magnite.

The waiting period for the base-spec diesel trim of the Kia Sonet extends to 20 weeks, whereas other diesel trims have a waiting period of 15-16 weeks. Moving over to the turbo-petrol variants of the Sonet, this engine option is available from the mid-spec HTK trim onwards, which has a 19-week long waiting period. Other variants with the turbo-petrol motor have a lesser waiting period of 6-7 weeks only. But to own the top-spec GTX and GTX Plus trims, you will have to wait for almost 12 weeks. The most affordable engine option on the lot – 1.2L Kappa petrol, and with this engine option, the Sonet has a waiting period of 15-16 weeks. However, the entry-level trim of the Sonet with this engine configuration continues to have a 20-week long waiting period.

Moving over to the Nissan Magnite, it is offered with two engine options – 1.0L NA petrol and 1.0L turbo-petrol. The base-spec XE trim of the Magnite boats of a 12-week long waiting period, but the mid-spec XL trim has a waiting period of 6-8 weeks. The top-spec XV and XV Premium trims are offered with both of these engine options. While the top-spec variants command a waiting period of 6-8 weeks with the turbo-petrol motor, it drops down to 2-4 weeks with the naturally aspirated power plant. If you are planning to buy the automatic variants, you’ll have to wait for anywhere in between 5-8 weeks, depending upon the trim you choose.
