Kia Sonet GT-Line with Diesel-Auto Configuration Detailed in Walkaround Video

The GTX+ trim of the Kia Sonet has been silently introduced with the option of a 6-speed automatic gearbox with the oil burner unit. Take a look at it in a detailed walkaround video here.

Kia Sonet has received a warm response from the Indian audience. The sub-4m compact-SUV has successfully garnered more than 50,000 bookings since its launch, which took place on September 18, this year. At the time of the launch, the GT Line trim of the Sonet was offered with both petrol and diesel engines, but the latter came mated to a 6-speed MT only. However, we recently came across a video on YouTube, which was uploaded by Plus Drive on their channel. The video showcases a detailed walkaround of the GTX+ trim of the Sonet that comes with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Kia has silently introduced the option of the automatic gearbox on the diesel-powered GTX+ trim of the Sonet. It is priced at Rs. 12.89 lakh. Coming back to the video, the Sonet showcased here is loaded with all the accessories. It gets chrome headlamp garnishes and bumper protectors at the front. On the sides, chrome door handle garnishes, chrome window line garnish, and chrome inserts for the side cladding can be seen. At the rear, it gets chrome surrounds for the tail lamps. Also, there are door visors fixed on this Sonet.

Talking of the most important change here – 6-speed AT, it comes with an increased peak power output and torque output when compared to the manual trim. The power and torque figure with the automatic gearbox stand at 115 PS and 250 Nm, respectively. With the manual gearbox, however, this motor pushes out 100 PS against 240 Nm.

Apart from this engine, the GTX+ trim of Sonet is also available with a 1.0L turbo-petrol unit. This 3-pot setup boasts of a rated power output of 120 PS and max torque of 172 Nm. It can be had with either a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT. Furthermore, the entry-level variant of Tech line trim can be had with a 1.2L Kappa unit as well. With a 4-cylinder configuration, this unit is capable of dishing out 83 PS of rated power output and 113 Nm of peak torque, and it comes mated to a 5-speed MT only. Prices for the Sonet start at Rs. 6.71 lakh and go up to Rs. 12.89 lakh.
