Mahindra Thar in its second-gen avatar is a looker. It has evolved to look modern and contemporary but without losing out on its Jeep genes. The new revised design of the Thar makes is attract a lot of eyeballs. Recently, a YouTuber Bike with Girl posted a video on her channel, when a Lamborghini owner stopped to have a look at the 2020 Thar. The YouTuber tweeted the video with a message, “Hi @anandmahindra Lamborghinis are stopping in their tracks to check out your new Thar!”
After watching this video, Mr Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra & Mahindra, shared the video on Twitter with a caption that read as “The Thar can only be stopped by a curious Lambo... Thanks for making my day @bikewithgirl Keep cruisin’...” However, this isn’t the first time that Mr Mahindra has reacted to praises that he receives for the new-gen Thar. He is quite an active personality on Twitter and keeps interacting with Mahindra patron and buyers.
The new-gen Thar, it is slated to be launched on October 2 in the country. However, it can be officially booked by visiting a Mahindra dealership or by logging in to the brand’s website. Mahindra Thar will come with 2 engine options – 2.0L petrol and 2.2L diesel. Both of these engines will feature a 4-cylinder layout with a turbocharger. The petrol unit will belt out a peak power output of 150 PS and 320 Nm of peak torque, however, the oil burner will push out a rated power and torque output of 130 PS and 300 Nm, respectively.
Talking of the prices, Mahindra will reveal them on October 2. However, a recent document leak has indicated that 2020 Mahindra will be priced at Rs. 9.75 lakh for the entry-level AX trim with petrol engine and manual gearbox. However, the top-spec LX variant with automatic gearbox is priced at Rs. 12.25 lakh with the diesel engine and 12.49 lakh with the petrol motor. Since the document states that these are introductory prices, the Thar will certainly see a price hike soon after its launch.
