The alterations would help the vehicle suite the tastes of the buyers in rural and semi-urban markets better.

The special edition of the Mahindra Bolero Power+ comes with both exterior and interior alterations agaisnt the standard version.

The Mahindra Bolero Power Plus was a shortened version of the Mahindra Bolero. The home-grown automaker has cut off the bumpers to make it conform to the sub-4-metre regulations to gain the tax benefits. Besides the smaller length dimension, the domestic automaker has also introduced the smaller 1.5-litre 3-cyl twin scroll turbo oil burner which can produce 70 BHP against 195 Nm on the vehicle. The power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed MT unit.

On the other hand, the Mahindra Bolero, with the addition of the bumpers, has a 4.2-metre length. The vehicle receives its power from a 2.5-litre M2DICR turbo diesel motor which is good for a maximum power of 63 BHP against a peak torque of 180 Nm and is coupled with a 5-speed MT unit, just like the smaller engine.

The Mahindra Bolero comes with a bigger engine, but with a smaller power/torque output than the Power Plus version.

From April 2020, when the BSVI emission standards come into effect, the bigger unit will be discontinued; in the meanwhile, the smaller motor will be updated to conform to the more stringent emission norms. Power and torque figures of the upgraded motor are expected to remain unchanged but the fuel mileage will experience a considerable increase.

Available with different seating layouts, 7, 8 and 9 seaters, the Mahindra Bolero is often used as a rugged people mover which can overcome the roughest roads in India. The domestic automaker used to provide a 4WD version of the vehicle with enhanced off-road capabilities for the government departments who needed more torque and traction to overcome harsh terrains.

The new-gen Mahindra Bolero is expected to be launched in India next year. Please stay tuned with IndianAuto to get updated with the latest news on the new-gen model of the Bolero.
