Maruti Baleno is one of the most popular premium hatchbacks among the youngsters in India because of its aggressive styling and reliable power plant. It is also the best-selling car in its segment and rubs shoulders with the likes of Hyundai Elite i20 and Tata Altroz. Here’s a recent drag race video in which Maruti Baleno competes against Mahindra Scorpio, which is known for its muscular looks and potent oil burner. This video is uploaded by a YouTube channel named Dream Cars. Talking about the video, as you can see that in the first round Mahindra Scorpio started early and it remained ahead of Maruti Baleno. So obviously, in the first round, the winner was Mahindra Scorpio. In the first attempt, the Maruti Baleno was not able to gain early acceleration because a massive truck suddenly came in its way.  Nevertheless, in the second round, one can see Maruti Baleno accelerating faster that Mahindra Scorpio and outrunning the Mahindra SUV by a huge margin. So, the Maruti Baleno is the final winner. The main reason behind the winning of Maruti Baleno is that it is 3 times lighter than Mahindra Scorpio. One can expect Mahindra Scorpio to win in the long run.

Mechanically, Maruti Baleno is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol unit, which puts out 83 PS of peak power and 113 Nm of twisting force. It comes paired with a 5-speed MT or a CVT. On the other hand, Mahindra Scorpio gets propelled by a 2.2-litre diesel unit that produces power and torque outputs of 120 PS and 280 Nm. Transmission duties are done by a 6-speed MT. Mahindra is also working on the new-gen Scorpio and will soon introduce in our market in the coming years.
