The video below shows a drag race between a Mahindra Scorpio and a Tata Harrier. While the Scorpio might come with a larger displacement motor, that of the Harrier can produce more torque. Three attempts of the race have been shown in the video. In the first one, the Scorpio is seen to take an initial lead.  For the first several seconds, it succeeds in staying ahead of the Harrier. Nevertheless, soon, the latter overtakes the former. When both of them enter the third gear, the Harrier probably accelerates more quickly than the Scorpio. In the second attempt, the Scorpio is seen to take an initial lead. Nevertheless, in the last run, the Harrier manages to attain an initial lead. In the long run, the Tata Harrier is the actual winner.

As regards the specifications and figures of the two cars, the Tata Harrier receives its power from a 2.0-litre turbo oil burner which can manufacture 140 PS against 350 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed MT. In the meanwhile, the Mahindra Scorpio is powered by a 2.2-litre turbo diesel unit which can generate 140 PS against 320 Nm and is mated to a 5-speed MT/6-speed MT, depending on the variants. Therefore, technically, the Harrier is the torquier one of the two SUVs. Since the Tata Harrier measures less in height and weight than the Scorpio, the former is given a clear benefit in dealing with wind resistance in the long race over the latter. In a 0-100 kmph, the Harrier can be the winner; nevertheless, in the 60 kmph one, the Scorpio is more likely to be the winner.
