The Mahindra XUV500 has been available in the Indian auto market for quite some time now and has attained a great deal of popularity with the Indian auto buyers. Recently, a wide array of SUVs have been launched in the country to compete against the XUV500 including the Tata Harrier. While the Harrier is not a seven-seater SUV, both of the vehicles are similarly priced.

The Mahindra XUV500 receives the power from both gasoline and oil burners. In the meanwhile, the Tata Harrier is powered by only a diesel motor. The Mahindra XUV500 diesel is far more popular than the petrol unit. Therefore, we would like to compare the acceleration of the diesel versions of both of the two SUVs. Firstly, let’s have a look at the video which showcases the acceleration process of the two SUVs side by side.

For your information, the Mahindra XUV500 in the video is a new-gen model which keeps under its hood the more powerful 2.2-litre mHawk oil burner which can generate 155 BHP against 360 Nm. The Tata Harrier, in the meantime, is powered by a 2.0-litre KRYOTEC motor, a detuned version of the Fiat Multijet motor which also powers the Jeep Compass. The KRYOTEC motor can deliver 138 BHP against 350 Nm. Noteworthily, the power and the torque of the Mahindra XUV are higher than those of the Tata Harrier. The transmission duties on both of the vehicles are undertaken by only a 6-speed MT unit.
