Maruti 800 EV Digitally Rendered

The Maruti 800 is one of the most iconic hatchbacks offered in the Indian market. The car was discontinued back in 2014, but it is still popular among its fans for its compact dimensions, fuel-efficient engine and cheap maintenance cost. The carmaker has no plans to re-launch the entry-level hatchback in the market, but here, we have renderings of how the new-gen Maruti 800 could look like. One can see that the car shown in these digitally rendered images looks quite similar to the Honda E electric hatchback retailed internationally. The car features the same boxy shape along with sharp edgy lines. To a large extent, the car looks like the original Maruti 800 but carries some addition modern bits to the overall design.

Up front, the hatchback employs a long bonnet, while the original headlamps have been replaced with more modern lighting fixtures with DRLs. The rendered Maruti 800 continues to employ small wheels, but this time around, they are mag units with dual-tone finish. The front grille gets ‘Maruti 800’ badging, which looks quite striking. The rear profile of the hatchback gets a blacked-out sporty looking spoiler along with all-new C-shape LED taillights. 

The Maruti 800 was replaced by the Alto 800, which continues to be the most afforable product from the carmaker. The Alto 800, which is now simply known as the Alto, is powered by a more modern iteration of the 800's 796cc three-cylinder petrol engine. However, it offers better crash safery and even comes across as a fairly more modern offering. 

As we said, the Maruti 800 was the entry-level hatchback in the carmaker’s line-up, but now that position has been taken over by the Alto 800. The Maruti Alto is priced between Rs 3 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) to Rs 4.37 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The hatchback derives power from an 796cc three-cylinder MPFI petrol unit that produces 48bhp of maximum power at 6000 rpm and 69 Nm of peak torque at 3500 rpm. The motor comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission Moreover, the carmaker also retails the hatchback with a CNG powertrain.
