Check out this modified Maruti 800 that has a rather crazy mod in the form of tires sourced from ..wait for a it... a tractor

Maruti 800 is one of the most iconic cars of the Indian automotive scene. For most Indians, it is also the very first car; they got behind the wheel of. Sadly, it was discontinued in January 2014 after a successful production run of almost 31 years. Even now, a number of clean examples can be spotted on the roads, while a few have taken the opportunity to be a project car for some. Today, we too came across one example, which has been modified to run on a tractor’s tyres. This particular Maruti 800 has been modified as a project car for HR Experiment. They have also uploaded a video of the complete modification process on their YouTube channel.

It can be seen in the video that the process starts with the manufacturing of custom spacers. They are made with the use of cast iron pipes and stud plates. The plates are welded on either end of the pipes. On one end, holes have been drilled in the plate to bolt the spacer to the car’s axle. However, the plate mounted on the other end has been welded with bolts to hold the tractor’s rim in place. The most critical part of this mod job is, however, the process of drilling holes and welding bolts on the plates. During the process, special attention has to be given to the PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter) on both the plates.

Maruti 800 used to come fitted with 12-inch steel rims from the factory but the owner of this one had some other plans

Once the wheels are bolted on the spacers, the Maruti 800 can be seen running around an open patch of land at walking speeds. The driver also makes small manoeuvres, but we cannot imagine how long the car will take to do a U-turn on a tight section of road. We are not aware of the tyre size; neither it is revealed in the video. They look like 28 inchers, and give this Maruti 800 a monster truck like appearance. However, it is not advisable to run the car with such big tyres. This mod job is an experimental affair to shoot and record the car with such massive wheels, but in longer, this customization will lead to a slew of mechanical issues. Also, it might affect the complete drivetrain of the car.
