Check out the brilliant discounts offered by Maruti on the Baleno hatchback (BS-VI model) in May 2020

Even though the BS6-compliant version of the Maruti Baleno had a relatively recent launch, poor sales have prompted India’s largest carmaker to offer big discounts on its car. What’s more, the discount varies for different trim levels.

BSVI Maruti Baleno Discount Offers

The 2020 Maruti Baleno is available with a cash discount of Rs. 20,000 on the base ‘Sigma’ variant, while the other trims get a Rs. 15,000 cash discount. Other than that, you also get an exchange bonus of Rs. 15,000. This bonus gets added to the value of the car you bring in for exchange at the dealership. Thus, you get a total discount worth Rs. 35,000 on the base trim, and worth Rs. 30,000 on all other trims.

2020 Maruti Baleno is powered by a 1.2-litre, inline-4, naturally aspirated, petrol engine. This motor is capable of producing 83 PS and 113 Nm of peak power and maximum torque, respectively. There’s also an optional mild-hybrid system available with the car, which boosts power output as well as fuel efficiency. With the mild-hybrid assistance, the engine can push out a maximum of 90 PS, although torque output remains the same at 113 Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed MT and a CVT, although the mild-hybrid versions are only offered with the former option.

There used to be a diesel engine on sale as well, but as BSVI emission norms drew closer, Maruti decided to drop them instead of upgrading them, figuring that the additional costs would drive the customers away. Also, the share of diesel-powered small passenger cars had fallen massively in 2019 and 2020, and thus Maruti decided to focus on petrol-powered cars instead. Maruti is currently working on bringing electric/hybrid vehicles to our markets, which could be an interesting replacement for diesel cars.
