Maruti Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20 are being offered with some sweet deals and discounts right now.
Maruti Baleno is one of the best selling hatchback, not only in its segment, but the entire auto market in India. Not too far behind in popularity is the Hyundai Elite i20, which has been in the market for a much longer time than its Maruti rival. The current market slowdown has affected the sales of both these cars. To attract customers, there are some lucrative deals on offer on the two. If you’re wondering which one has better discounts, well, just read ahead to find out.
On the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, there is a straight-up cash discount of Rs. 20,000. Apart from that, you can also avail an exchange bonus of Rs. 15,000. Thus, the total incentives available on the purchase of a new Baleno amount to a total of Rs. 35,000. With the Hyundai Elite i20, you get a slightly lower cash discount of Rs. 15,000, along with an identical exchange bonus of Rs. 15,000. Also, the Baleno has a slightly higher starting price than the Hyundai, although the latter has a more-expensive top-of-the-line trim. Please note that the exchange bonus is independent of the value of the car brought in for exchange, and gets added on to it as a bonus reward.
Maruti Baleno is available with two engine options. The first one is a 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated, inline-4 petrol engine. This powerplant can generate a maximum power of 83 PS and a peak torque of 113 Nm. It comes mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or CVT. The second option is the same 1.2-litre engine, but with two fuel injectors per cylinder. In this ‘dual-jet’ avatar, the peak power figure rises up to 90 PS, but the maximum torque remains the same at 113 Nm. It comes paired to only a 5-speed manual, along with a mild-hybrid system.
