Decorating a car is quite common, but would you do it with cow dung? A man from Chhattisgarh did, and then won a competition! Read the complete story.

In a bizarre story that almost truly reflects India, a man has coated his Maruti Ignis with cow dung. What’s more bizarre is the fact that he was participating in a car rally, and has won!

A recent report by Patrika reveals that the car event took place in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. It was a showcase rally event in which thirty different cars participated. Each car was judged on the basis of decorations and design. There were different themes for the decoration of the participating cars, like drug abuse, environment protection, and women empowerment. Among all, the winner was a Maruti Suzuki Ignis coated with 21Kg of cow dung.

The Maruti Ignis in question is owned by Rajesh, a resident of Chhattisgarh.  Rajesh states that the theme of his car decoration was “recycle and reuse”. As can be seen in the pictures, the car also sports hand-drawn designs and drawings all over the body of the car on the manure. Not sure how the theme is carried across by cow dung though, as it is neither a product of reuse or recycle, nor can it be reused and recycled into other products. That said, cow dung is a popular building material in rural areas. Huts made of cow dung and straw can still be seen in some of the more backward rural areas of the country.

This prize-winning Maruti Ignis also paraded through the streets of Raipur in all its dung-covered glory. It is not yet revealed whether there was any cash prize involved in the event, but the winner did take home a trophy with him. This isn’t the first case where a car has been covered in cow dung. A senior doctor in Pune had done the same a few months back, and that too without any prize involved!
