An unlucky owner of a Mercedes-Benz E-Class had to call for help when his sedan gets stuck in the sand on a beach. This incident has, again, told us that driving around on the beach is not a good idea.

That sinking feeling, when the wheels become completely lodged in the wet sand, is quite irritating. Actually, beaches would be the perfect destination for your vacation, but driving around there is not a good idea for sure. This unfortunate owner of a Mercedes-Benz E-Class learnt that hard after he took his luxury sedan to the beach. Such kind of incidents have happened multiple times in real life in the past and some of them even hit the headlines when the cars were submerged by the sea waves. A video uploaded by a Youtube channel shows how a white Mercedes-Benz E-Class was rescued on a sea beach. Have a look.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a brilliant car on the tarmac, but not on a sandy beach. As seen in the video, the owner of this white E-Class sedan found that out after getting stuck there and being unable to free his Mercedes. Parking the car on the wet sand for shooting a video, the car’s driver had no idea that the surface was so soft that caused the car to sink under its heavy weight. When he got out of the vehicle, he was stunned that the sedan’s wheels had sunk by a few inches in the sedan.

Parking a heavy car like the E-Class sedan on the wet sand near the sea is easiest way to ruin your car

In desperation, the man tried flooring the throttle harder to get out of the mud, but instead of moving, the car dug itself the wheels deeper. For reference, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class is an urban luxury saloon that weighs between 1700 – 1800 kg, which is heavy enough to let the car sink in the wet soft surface. Besides, the one in this video gets a normal road tires and a rear-wheel-drive system. Had it been an all-wheel-drive drivetrain, the situation could be better then.

Apart from becoming stuck in the sand, the car could be submerged by the water once the high tides come in

For the car being pushed out of the sand, the local people did charge Mercedes’s owner around Rs 15,000. Left with not many choices, the owner was willing to pay the hefty amount for the much-needed assistance. Frankly, it was better to spend around Rs 15,000 for the rescue rather than totally ruining his Rs 50 Lakh worth sedan once it gets submerged under high tide waves, wasn’t it?

All in all, driving on beaches can be really fascinating, but it takes some reasonable precautions and preparations and all.  An AWD-equipped SUV with competent off-road capabilities could be a better choice. Or else, it is advisable to search for the places where driving is not an issue.
