Actually, most auto manufacturers have recorded a decent sales number in June in comparison with that in the previous two months. Facelifted Honda WR-V

The Honda WR-V has just been launched on July 2 and become the first car to be launched in India this month. The SUV has received some minor updates as regards the exterior styling and interior features. The car receives its power from an updated set of 1.2-litre petrol motor and 1.5-litre oil burner which have now become compliant with the BS6 emission standards. While the former can develop 90 PS/110 Nm and is mated to a 5-speed MT, the latter can generate 100 PS/200 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed MT. Priced between INR 8.5 lakh and INR 11 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Honda WR-V competes against the Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport and Maruti Vitara Brezza.

BS6 Honda Jazz facelift

Soon after the facelifted Honda WR-V, the BS6 Honda Jazz will be introduced in the Indian auto market. The new hatchback is expected to come with some changes in the exterior styling, which could include a new front bumper and LED headlights, and interior features such as an upgraded 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, new seat fabric, etc. As a result of the new powertrain strategy of the Japanese carmaker in India, the Jazz will become a petrol-only car. Accordingly, the car will be powered by a BS6 1.2-litre turbo gasoline burner which can deliver 90 PS/110 Nm and is coupled with a 5-speed MT/CVT. Once launched in India, the new Jazz will take on the likes of the Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20, Maruti Baleno and Toyota Glanza.

BS6 Honda Civic Diesel

The next vehicle in this list of upcoming cars in July is the BS6 Honda Civic diesel. Bookings of the sedan have been opened across the country, which allows you to pre-book the model at any authorized Honda dealerships or through ‘Honda from Home’ online sales platform which has just been introduced. The design and features of the new Honda Civic diesel will be the same as the petrol counterpart. Nevertheless, the 1.6-litre 4-cyl turbo diesel motor of the Civic has been upgraded to conform to the stricter emission norms. As the Toyota Corolla Altis and the Skoda Octavia Diesel’s production has been shelved, the Honda Civic will be the only rival of the diesel-sipping Hyundai Elantra.

New-gen Honda City

This month, Honda seems to be in a mood to bombard the Indian auto market with up to four new models. The last one is the new-gen Honda City. The sedan has been revealed and its bookings have also been commenced. The new City will be equipped with LED headlights with DRLs, taillights and run on 16-inch alloy wheels. As regards the interior, the new sedan will be packed with a massive eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an ambient lighting system, etc. The safety features on the new City will include six airbags, ABS with EBD, tyre pressure monitoring system, LaneWatch camera and ISOFIX child seat anchors.

The new-gen Honda City will receive its power from two motor options: a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel unit. While the former can produce 121 PS against 145 Nm, the latter can generate 100 PS against 200 Nm. The transmission duties on the two versions are undertaken by a 6-speed MT/7-speed CVT and a 6-speed MT, respectively. Expected to be priced between INR 11 lakh and INR 16 lakh, the new City will measure greater than the outgoing model and both its main rivals: the Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna.

MG Hector Plus

The MG Hector Plus’s production has already been commenced at MG Motors’s Halol plant in India. Its specifications and variants have also been disclosed prior to its launch later this month. The vehicle will initially be offered with a six-seat layout and a seven-seat one will be launched later. The Hector Plus will share the features list with the Hector, albeit, with some revisions. The highlights will include a large 10.4-inch vertical touchscreen infotainment system, an eSIM for connected car technologies, auto cruise, a panoramic sunroof, autocruise, power-adjustable front seats and a 360-degree camera. Standard safety features which are provided across all the Hector Plus variants consist of dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors.

The Hector Plus will even share the engines with the Hector: a 1.5-litre turbo petrol motor with 143 PS/250 Nm and a 2.0-litre diesel engine with 170 PS against 350 Nm. Both of them conform to the BS6 emission norms. The transmission duties on both of the two versions are undertaken by a 6-speed MT. Expected to be priced at INR 14 lakh, the MG Hector Plus will compete against the 2020 Mahindra XUV500, Toyota Innova Crysta and Tata Gravitas.

 

Maruti S-Cross Petrol

The Maruti S-Cross that was showcased at Auto Expo 2020 had a diesel powerplant but a petrol variant, which has been in the pipeline forever now, will finally launch this month. The S-Cross petrol will be powered by the BSVI-compliant gasoline burner with mild-hybrid technology which has already been adopted in the Ertiga, XL6, Ciaz and Vitara Brezza. It can generate 105 PS against 138 Nm and is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard and a 4-speed automatic unit as optional. The latter even gets mild-hybrid technology. The Maruti S-Cross petrol is expected to have a starting price of INR 7.5 lakh and the new model will compete against the Nissan Kicks, Kia Seltos, Mahindra Scorpio, Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta.

New Force Gurkha

The last vehicle in the list of the upcoming cars in July in India is the new Force Gurkha. Showcased at Auto Expo 2020, the BS6 Force Gurkha is expected to be launched this month. The SUV has been spied with heavy camouflage with the classic G-Class inspired design retained from the outgoing model. The new Gurkha will come with a new grille and bumpers while the big snorkel will be retained. The circular headlights will receive LED components. Moreover, the car will also come with a dual-tone roof. The spied model runs on 16-inch steel rims. Its spare wheel is mounted on the new tailgate. Moreover, the new Gurkha is expected to be equipped with manual air conditioner, a restyled dual-tone dashboard, dual front airbags and ABS, etc.
