Mahindra & Mahindra has recently launched the new-gen Thar in the Indian market. The 2020 model of the SUV has got quite popular among enthusiasts around the country. In terms of looks, it looks quite similar to that of the Jeep Wrangler. Like the first-gen model, the 2020 version of the SUV is also well-liked by the modifiers, and people have started customizing it as per their preference. Here are a few images of India’s first-ever modified Mahindra Thar convertible.

Talking about the customizations, upfront this 2020 Mahindra Thar gets an off-road spec aftermarket mild steel bumper. The bumper features winch plate along with shackles mounted to the chassis. The bumper also gets original fog lamps integrated inside bumper with LED bulbs. The winch is capable enough to tow 10,000 Lbs of weight.

For better illumination, the modifier has replaced stock headlights with aftermarket LED headlamps. The SUV employs an aluminium skid plate, which is quite sturdy and has enhanced the approach angle of the car. On the side, the SUV gets stock alloy wheels, which are wrapped around BFGoodrich tyres 285/60R18.

The rear end of this new-gen Mahindra Thar features a removable tow ball mounted to the chassis. Other than this no customizations have been done on the exterior of the car. The mod job has been done by Bimbra, who is popularly known around the country for modifying SUVs. Inside, the SUV remains in stock form, except for the addition of grab handle on A-pillar. The overall cost of the customizations is not known, but one can directly contact the modifier for more information. The 2020 model of the SUV is powered by 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine. The former churns out 150bhp of peak power and 300 Nm of torque, while the latter develops 130 PS and 300 Nm of torque. The engine comes coupled to a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
