Modified Premier Padmini – The Return of A Classic Icon

Premier cars might be a rare sight for the young and modern Indian auto lovers as of now, but the brand still enjoys a good cult among the automotive fanatics in India for a long time now. Premier is one of the oldest carmakers in the Indian market, with the Padmini standing as one of the most iconic and important cars of the brand’s portfolio. Even though the Premier Padmini has been discontinued in India for quite a while, it’s still popular among the customized and restored cars nuts. Today, IndianAuto gets a stunning 1991 Premier Padmini which has been meticulously modified and restored into a piece of art.

This modified Premier Padmini is a work from RASN Designs which is a Pune-based workshop that specializes in motorcycles and cars modification. There are a number of design cues to notice on the exterior and interior of the modified Premier Padmini. The dual-tone body paint scheme combining the white posterior with orange anterior looks extremely prominent on the vehicle while the blue stripe near the middle and some decals work as some highlights. As confirmed by the owner, the original colour of the Padmini was brown.

That said, the custom paint job of the modified Premier Padmini is extremely extensive. It received three coats of primer initially then two layers of base coat along with four layers of clear coat. The modified Premier Padmini car also boasts of smoked taillamps, aftermarket steel wheels and a custom number plate light as well. Even the turn indicators have been customized as well. The Fiat 1100-inspired fuel filler is also a brilliant design touch on the modified model.

The cabin of the modified Premier Padmini sports plenty of changes, including a custom white-blue seat upholstery that received diamond-shaped design patterns, custom dials and switches. The door panels get the same design treatment as the seats while new foldable handles have been kitted out above the doors. The speedometer is a horizontal-scrolling unit which was derived from the Italian Fiat. There are reading lights on the C-Pillars that enables a comfy and premium feel on the inside. You can also enjoy the convenience of cabin lighting under the parcel tray as well as below the front seats.

Like the exterior, the interior of the modified Premier Padmini sports the same white-orange colour theme. It features a SELM steering wheel with wooden finish. Other highlighting interior features include a 2-din audio player with a 7-band equalizer along with two USB ports for charging along with a pull-type engine starter.

The amendments have been made underneath the bonnet of the Padmini as well. The modified car has been given a new carburettor as derived from the old-gen Maruti Esteem, dual exhaust tips, custom exhaust headers and even paint to match the car’s exterior.
