This Renault Kwid has been converted into a hybrid car and is rated to offer 150 km range.
The French carmaker Renault has plans to introduce the Kwid EV in our market in the coming years. The electric hatchback has already been launched in the Chinese market. Here’s a recent video, where an IC-engines Renault Kwid has been converted into a hybrid car and the spec sheet of the hatchback is quite interesting. This video has been uploaded by a YouTube channel named as Baiju N Nair. This Renault Kwid can offer 48 kmpl of mileage in hybrid mode. These mileage figures are quite equivalent to a 150cc bike. It gets powered by an electric motor, which puts out 35 PS of peak power. The electric motor comes paired with an 800cc, three-pot petrol engine. This customized Renault Kwid hybrid produces a combined power output of 90 PS, which is also quite higher than the hatchback’s 1.0-litre engine. The EV mode of the car can offer a range of 150 km. Usually, hybrid cars offer a range between 50 to 80 km, but this Tata Nexon is capable enough to make your everyday commutes cost-effective. In pure EV mode, it can touch a top speed of 100 kmph.
Moreover, it also features an all-wheel-drive system, which will surely make this car fun to drive. This Renault hatchback gets regenerative braking technology, which will help the powertrain. This Renault Kwid has been prepared by Hymotive.com. This is just the prototype version of the car, the company is also working on a more refined version of the hatchback. Moreover, the company has develops Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles and pure in-wheel electric vehicles. The original Kwid EV was showcased by the automaker early this year at the 2020 Auto Expo. It is rated to offer a range of 270 km. It’ll derive power from a small electric motor for everyday city commuting and is expected to be priced under Rs 7 lakh.
