Recently, Tata Motors launched the new-gen Safari in the Indian market. The all-new model of the SUV directly rivals with the likes of Mahindra Scorpio. Several enthusiasts around India are not accepting the new-gen Safari as a Safari. People believe that it looks quite sophisticated, and it misses out on typical true-blue SUV feel. Here’s a recent drag race between Mahindra Scorpio and 2021 Tata Safari. Watch the video embedded below to know the amazing results.

This drag race video has been uploaded by a YouTube channel named as MRD Cars. In this video, one can see 2021 Tata Safari competing against the current-gen version of Mahindra Scorpio. This video will surely give you an idea about the acceleration of both SUVs. The vlogger conducted three different rounds of drag race, and it’s quite surprising to see Mahindra Scorpio winning all the rounds. Mechanically, the new-gen Safari shreds out 170bhp of peak power and 350 Nm of peak torque, while the Mahindra Scorpio offers 140bhp of power output and 320 Nm of twisting force. In this video, both SUVs are paired with a manual transmission. Moreover, the weight of both SUVs is almost similar between 1,800 to 1,900 kgs. In the drag race, one can see that there were two passengers sitting inside Safari and there was the only driver in Scorpio.

The Tata Safari you see in this video has done around 2,000kms, while the Mahindra Scorpio has clocked around 17,000kms. The vlogger said that the main reason behind Safari losing the race is its limitation of engine rpm. The powertrain offered with Tata Safari is limited at 2,500 rpm, while the Mahindra Scorpio is limited at 3,000 rpm. In other news, Mahindra & Mahindra is planning to launch the new-gen Scorpio in our market. It has been spied several times while getting tested, and one can expect the carmaker to introduce the all-new Mahindra SUV in the Indian market in coming weeks. Mechanically, it will derive power from a petrol and diesel mill.
