New Honda City to BS6 Honda WR-V - 4 New Honda Cars to Launch Soon

Like many other automakers, Honda Cars India has also suffered from a sharp decline due to the COVID-19 pandemic for the past few months. In some regions which are marked as the green areas, the life of residents there has come back to normal. Car companies in these regions have also returned to their normal operation. We can expect that in the coming time, numerous car manufacturers in India including Honda will introduce new models to the Indian auto market. This month is expected to witness the launch of four upcoming cars in the Indian auto market.

2020 Honda WR-V facelift

The Honda WR-V has just been launched today at a price of INR 8.5 lakh. The SUV will come with numerous improvements in terms of the exterior design and interior features as well as BS6-compliant motors. The SUV is powered by the same 1.2-litre gasoline and 1.5-litre oil burners as the prefacelifted version but they have been updated to become compliant with the BS6 emission standards. The two motors can churn out 90 PS/110 Nm and 100 PS/200 Nm, respectively. The transmission option for the petrol unit is a 5-speed MT and for the diesel one is a 6-speed MT.

The Honda WR-V is priced in the range from INR 8.50 lakh to INR 11 lakh (ex-showroom) and rivals the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300.

2020 Honda City

The fifth-gen Honda City has been officially revealed prior to its launch in July and the bookings for the sedan have also been opened. The new City will come with LED headlights, DRLs and taillights and run on 16-inch diamond-cut alloy rims. In terms of the interior, the new sedan is expected to be equipped with an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Weblink connectivity along with an ambient lighting system, etc. In the safety front, the new City will be packed with six airbags, ABS with EBD, LaneWatch camera, tyre pressure monitoring system and ISOFIX child seat anchors.

The sedan will keep under its hood 1.5-litre gasoline and oil burners. While the former can generate 121 PS against 145 Nm and is mated to a 6-speed MT/7-speed CVT, the latter will be good for 100 PS against 200 Nm and is paired with only a 6-speed MT. The new City will be bigger than the previous-gen model and is longer and wider than the two of its competitors: the Hyundai Verna and Maruti Ciaz. The new car is anticipated to be priced from INR 11 lakh to INR 16 lakh (ex-showroom).

BS6 Honda Civic Diesel

The next vehicle in the list of upcoming Honda cars this month is the BS6 diesel Honda Civic. The bookings for the sedan have been commenced. You can book the car at any of the company’s authorized dealerships across India or through ‘Honda from Home’ online sales platform which was recently introduced. The BS6 diesel Honda Civic will continue to keep under its hood a 1.6-litre 4-cyl turbo oil burner which can generate 122 PS against 300 Nm and is coupled with only a 6-speed MT but has been updated to conform to the more stringent emission norms. As the Toyota Corolla Altis and Skoda Octavia have been discontinued, the Honda Civic currently directly compete only against the Hyundai Elantra.

BS6 Honda Jazz

The Japanese automaker is making some alterations to its powertrain strategy; as a result, the new Honda Jazz will become a petrol-only model. The Jazz will keep under its hood a BS6 1.6-litre turbo motor which can generate 120 PS against 174 Nm and is paired with a 5-speed MT/CVT. The hatchback is also expected to receive some alterations in the design and additions in the features. The Jazz will compete against the Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza.
