New Hyundai Creta Diesel MT 0-100 KMPH & 0-140 kmph Acceleration Test [Video]

Hyundai Creta has been making its way to the top of the sales chart in its new-gen avatar. Amidst the lockdown, Hyundai Creta registered sales of 3,212 units. However, to us auto enthusiasts, what matters is how fast the new-gen Hyundai Creta can reach triple digits cruising speeds. Therefore, the team IndianAuto.com conducted a test run for the new Creta. A diesel engine is still the preferred choice of powertrain around Indian buyers, who spend a big part of their day on highways. Thus we tested the diesel. Also, with a manual transmission, as that is what contributes to the major part of the sales in comparison to its automatic counterpart.

While testing out to understand how long does the Creta takes to reach 100 kmph and 140 kmph mark, air-conditioning was not switched off. It also had 2 occupants in total with some camera equipment. The idea behind this test run was to keep it identical to the real-world conditions. To ensure that we were correct to the decimal places, a total of 3 runs were conducted. In the first run, Creta took 12.82 seconds to reach the tonne, followed by 12.80 seconds in the second run. The third and the last run, however, showcased the true potential of the Creta and our test driver. They collectively took 12.23 seconds to reach the 100 kmph mark. Talking of the time that Creta took to reach 140 kmph mark on the speedometer, it is 25.15 seconds.

The diesel engine on the Creta is designed to belt out 115 PS of peak power and 250 Nm of peak torque. The oil burner is available with two transmission options – 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT. It isn’t, however, the most powerful engine option available with the Creta. The smaller 1.4L turbo-petrol deserves that title as it is capable of putting out peak power and torque outputs of 140 PS and 242 Nm, respectively. The transmission duties on this engine are performed by a 7-speed DCT. Also, there’s another petrol engine on offer with the Creta. It is the 1.5L naturally-aspirated motor. It boasts of a rated power output of 115 PS and torque output of 144 Nm. It can be had mated to either a 6-speed MT or a CVT.
