In this post, we have a look at the differences in the features of AX and LX variants of the new 2020 Mahindra Thar

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd recently revealed the much-awaited new-gen Thar through an online showcase of the vehicle. The off-roader is scheduled to launch in our market on 2nd October 2020. The automaker says that “the Thar is a quantum leap in terms of performance, everyday comfort & convenience, technology and safety.”

The front fascia of the new-gen Thar features noticeable styling tweaks, which consists of fog lamps up front, two-tone front and rear bumpers, LED DRLs, silver-coloured alloy wheels and LED taillights. It also comes with a choice of three roof options namely- a hardtop, manual convertible top (first-in-class) and a fixed soft top. Moreover, the blacked-out cabin with silver inserts and faux carbon fibre accents around the AC vents give the off-roader a sporty feel.

The all-new Mahindra Thar is loaded with a lot of comfort goodies, connectivity and safety features. The off-roader now gets a new suspension system, brake locking differential and electromechanical driveline disconnect for better off-roading. Mechanically, it now derives power from a 2.0-litre mStallion gasoline motor and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. The former puts out 150bhp of power, while the latter produces 130bhp of peak power. Transmission duties are done by a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The 4X4 system will be exclusively offered with the top-spec trims. Mahindra has already confirmed that 2020 Thar will be offered in two different variants, namely- AX and LX.
