Earlier this month, Mahindra launched the 2020 Thar model in India at the price ranging from Rs 9.80 – 13.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new Mahindra Thar has been introduced in three configurations – Soft top, hard top along with the convertible soft top for some select variants. Many auto enthusiasts are curious about how the Convertible soft-top of the Thar can open and fold down. How To Open The Soft Top of 2020 Mahindra Thar

How can the new Thar Soft Top get access to the empty sky without any external assistance? The video shows us how the soft-top of the new Thar can be opened and folded down by a single user himself and with no extra help. Firstly, you need to remove the rear side screens with zippers at the rear windows of the model. After that, let’s enter the cabin and open up the latch mechanism at the front of the car then push the canvas to the back. The latch mechanism looks quite easy to open up. Besides, in order to get better visibility from the rear, it is highly advised that you should check the soft top again and folds it in proper ways. From here, the Mahindra Thar looks like a truly convertible and there’s no sort of components to be stored at the parking bay.

How To Close The Soft Top of 2020 Mahindra Thar

It may take a bit more time to close the soft top of the new Mahindra Thar but overall, things also seem easy like the opening. As you can see from the video, the guy needs to push the soft-top towards the front to cover the model back up. One can use the secondary arms on the sides of the Thar to lift the canvas up and provide it with a proper direction.  And just like the previous part, you have to enter the cabin to close the latch-mechanism once the soft-top reaches the front end. Lastly, the earlier side screens should be re-zipped but this step might take you quite a while. Once done, you can double-check the rear screens to avoid the chances of the open-gaps.

The convertible rooftop of the 2020 Mahindra Thar can be operated quite easily. However, to enjoy a breath of fresh air on the go, you need to pay a bit more and choose the AX(O) or top-spec LX variant of the Thar model.
