New Mahindra Thar Digitally Modified, Bears Close Resemblance To Jeep Wrangler

Officially revealed last month, the new-gen Mahindra Thar is expected to be launched in India on October 2. The SUV has attracted a great deal of attention from off-road enthusiasts, thanks to its great off-road capabilities. Aftermarket accessories such as the Jeep-like grille, which was available on the outgoing Thar, are being prepared for the SUV. Recently, a digital artist, Ayush Dubey has created a digital rendered image of the upcoming Thar, customizing it with several alterations to make it look more like the Jeep Wrangler with more off-road elements.

The front of the Mahindra Thar has experienced a complete alteration. The grille comes with seven­-vertical slits; the dual-tone front bumper has given way to a custom off-road unit. The round headlights are LED ones; the fog lights have been elegantly integrated into the bumper. In the front, an electric winch is also available as well.

On the side profile, the car comes with larger rims which come with similar styling to the original car. Despite lacking profile, the tyres have all-terrain tread. The side step has been substituted with a rock slider which looks minimal. The ground clearance seems to be slightly raised, perhaps due to a custom lift kit or the wheels.

With this rendering, the feature that receives the most complaints of the new Thar, its grille, has witnessed an improvement. In the USA, FCA has filed a lawsuit against Mahindra for design copying and won. The Indian automaker will try to avoid adopting Jeep’s signature features to prevent legal issues from happening again.

Noteworthily, although there are many differences between the Mahindra Thar and Jeep Wrangler, the former’s overall design still bears a strong resemblance to the latter. In this rendering, the Thar looks even more like its competitor. This customized Mahindra Thar looks really impressive.

The stock Mahindra Thar looks already robust.

The stock Mahindra Thar will receive its power from a 2.0-litre gasoline burner and a 2.2-litre oil unit. While the former can deliver 150 PS against 320 Nm, the latter is good for 130 PS against 320 Nm. The transmission duties on both of the two versions will be undertaken by a 6-speed MT/AT. A 4WD system and a low ratio transmission will be offered as standard across all the variants of the SUV.
