New Mahindra Thar Donates Wheels to This Old Model

Mahindra Thar enjoys a strong cult around the Indian enthusiasts. The new-gen model of the off-roader has been recently launched in the country. It adopts to more contemporary design cues now and comes loaded with a lot of features. However, the case was not the same with the last-gen model, as it was based on Mahindra MM550. It was kept away from creature comforts. Also, it was offered with a set of 16-inch steel rims. The new-gen model, on the other hand, can be had with 18-inch alloy wheels as well. In the above image, an old-gen Mahindra Thar can be seen donning the 18-inch grey-finished alloy wheels of its new-gen iteration. Also, they are wrapped in 225/65/R18 Ceat CZAR A/T tyres, which are offered as OEM fitment on the new-gen model. This combination looks great on the old-gen model as well. These rims impart it with a sense of fresher appeal.

Talking of the new-gen model, it boasts of a long list of features. It includes power windows, power-operated ORVMs, central locking, automatic climate control, 7-inch infotainment screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering-mounted audio controls, cruise control and more. On the safety front, it now gets dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, roll-over mitigation, ESP, tyre pressure monitoring system and more.

Powertrain options on the all-new Mahindra Thar include a 2.0L turbo-petrol and 2.2L turbo-diesel. The mStallion turbo-petrol produces a peak power output of 150 Hp and max torque of 320 Nm. The oil burner, on the other hand, puts out a rated power output of 130 Hp and 300 Nm of max torque. Both of these engines can be had mated to either a 6-speed MT and 6-speed torque converter automatic. The 4x4 drivetrain, however, remains standard fitment across the range along with a low-ratio transfer case and mechanically-locking rear differential. The top-spec trim also gets brake-locking front axles.
