Imagine an all-new Mahindra Thar riding on massive 24-inch rims. Looks Gorgeous? Well, here's one, take a look at it here.

Mahindra Thar looks uber cool in its second-generation avatar. It draws heavy inspiration from the American off-roader, which is not an issue at all as both the cars share the same genes of Willy’s Jeep. Also, it seems like that Indian audience is following the trend of Americans by converting their Mahindra Thars into mere mall crawlers and ballers. Owners of the new-gen Thar are preferring to install massive alloy wheels on their rides. Earlier, we’ve come across modified examples of new-gen Thar with aftermarket alloy wheels as a big as 22-inch in diameter. However, we now came across a modified Mahindra Thar via the YouTube channel of Musafir Aka Joshi that rides on a set of 24-inch rims and low-profile tyres.

This modification job was performed by Velocity Tyres, who are based out of Ludhiana, Punjab. In the video, the host shows various designs of the alloy wheels for the new Mahindra Thar. Most of them were 20-inch and 22-inch in diameter, but he also showcased a 24-inch rim for the off-roader. The most exciting of all was a 20-inch off-road rim that was shod with MT tyres. Honestly, it should’ve been the choice of the owner, considering the Thar’s design and the purpose it is built for. But, the owner ended up with humongous 24-inch rims, which were shod with low-profile tyres.

These massive rims do look good on boxy SUVs, but they come at the cost of reduced ride comfort and increased chances of wheel damage. In general, the diameter of the rim is inversely proportional to the sidewall. As the rim size increases, the sidewall of the tyre reduces, which consequently deteriorates the ride quality since tyres are the first element in a car that absorb a bump.
