New Tata Safari Bureaucrat Edition Render Has Imposing Look

Tata has finally revealed the all-new Safari SUV. The first Tata Safari arrived in 1998 and helped usher in a new age for the Indian auto giant as well glamourizing the lifestyle segment. The Safari was in production for two decades but got discontinued in 2020 as BS-VI regulations kicked in.  The new model is a proper 7-seater just like the older ones, and even though it shares a resemblance with the smaller Harrier, the rear has been completely redesigned to fit the third row. Today we this render which shows how a bureaucrat edition of the Tata Safari may look like.

It has become quite evident that government officials who serve our country and the government are in an urgent need to change their official vehicles. The Tata Safari can be the perfect and modern replacement to the ageing HM Ambassador. And as the current government emphasizes buying domestic built products with the Make in India initiative, the Safari can be the SUV they were just waiting for.

In the video, we can see a digital render of how a bureaucrat version of the new Tata Safari may look like. The government-spec Tata Safari has been given an elongated wheelbase and gets an extra B pillar to compensate for the extra length. This should free up more space for the rear passengers. The signature Safari stepped rear roofline remains, but it is longer now. The SUV gets a blacked-out paint job with the alloys finished in a shade of black as well. Over on the front, there’s a new grille with chrome vertical slats while police lights are integrated on the middle grille. There is a flag holder on the front fender which has the Indian tricolour fitted to it. Overall, it is a very imposing vehicle and you wouldn’t mistake it for anything else.

The Tata Safari will be powered by the Harrier's Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 170 PS/350 Nm of peak power and torque figures. The engine will come mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Though prices will be only be revealed on February 4, its launch date, It will come at a decent premium over the Harrier which is priced between INR 13.84-20.30 lakh. The new Safari will rival the likes of the MG Hector Plus and upcoming next-gen Mahindra XUV500.
