The new Tata Safari has been official introduced to us. If you are getting a little mixed up by which variants to go for, IndianAuto now explains what do each variant of new Tata Safari has to offer.

Tata has just introduced the new Safari to the Indian auto enthusiasts. The launch of the new Tata Safari is set to commence sometime this month and the pre-bookings of the Safari will be accepted from Feb 4. After the debut, the new Tata Safari has been at the centre of attention. Previously, the SUV was showcased at the Auto Expo under the name Gravitas. The 2021 Tata Safari will be powered by the same 2.0-litre Kyrotec diesel engine sourced from the Harrier, churning out 170 PS of power against 350 Nm of torque. The transmission duties will be handled by a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AT option. The new Safari will be available with a total of six variants including XE, XM, XT, XT+, XZ and XZ+ for the customers to choose from. New Tata Safari XE

The entry-level variant of the new Safari is the XE. As the Safari is the new flagship SUV of Tata in India, the 7-seat SUV will come with quite a bit of safety features from the base variant. The safety equipment for the new Tata Safari XE will include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, hill hold assist, traction control, rear parking sensors, rollover mitigation, central locking, cornering stability control among others. Other prominent features for the Safari XE base model might be projector headlamps with daytime running lamps, tilt and telescopic steering, power windows, 60:40 split seats for the second row, 50:50 split seats for the third row, smart charger for the second & third row, brake disc wiping and many others. A boss mode will also be offered in the XE model that allows the rear passengers to move the front passenger seat forward.

New Tata Safari XM/ XMA

Features over XE

Sitting right above the XE is the XM variant which will get a few bit of equipment over the XE, certainly. As for the Safari XM, the SUV will get multiple driving modes – Eco, City, Sports. There’s also a floating island 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system in handy. The SUV will also pack itself with a 6-speakers sound system, steering-mounted controls, follow-me-home headlamps, front fog lamps, rear parking sensors with display, height-adjustable driver seat, electrically-adjustable outer mirrors, remote central locking and rear wiper washer.

New Tata Safari XT/ XT+

Next up in the Tata Safari variants lineup is the XT variant which will carry forward the features from the XM and endear itself with a few more premium touches. Customers of the Tata Safari XT can have a soft-touch dashboard with anti-reflective Nappa grain top layer in the vehicle. The touchscreen infotainment system in the XT model will be compatible with Android Auto, Apple Carplay and iRA connected car tech. Aside from that, you can get an 8-speaker sound system, a fully-automatic climate control, auto headlamps, dual-function LED DRLs with turn indicators, electrically foldable outer mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, height-adjustable driver seat with lumbar support, push-button start and rear armrest with cup holders. Not just that, the buyers of the new Safari XT variant can avail a few more features like mood lighting, a set of 18-inch alloy wheels, auto-dimming IRVM, rear parking camera, cruise control along with a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

The XT+ variants get all the features of the XT and at the same time, offers a panoramic sunroof which is so-called “Majestic Skydome” by the carmaker.

New Tata Safari XZ/ XZA

Features Over XT

The XZ variant of the Tata Safari sits between the XT and the top-spec XZ+ variants. It offers a host of premium features including HID projector headlamps, front fog lamps with cornering function, signature oyster white interior colour theme, leather seat upholstery, leather-wrapped steering and gear shift knob, floating island 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, terrain response modes, JBL 9-speakers sound system, shark fin antenna, 7.0-inch colour TFT instrument cluster, R18 machined alloy wheels, 6-way powered driver seat and more. Furthermore, the Safari XZ car is also equipped with 6 airbags, hill descent control, ISOFIX child seat mount and electronic parking brake with auto-hold function.

New Tata SafariXZ+

Features Over XZ

Coming up to the top-of-the-line XZ+ variant in the Safari’s range, the SUV comes with all the bells and whistles of the lower XZ variant but adds a ‘Majestic Skydome’ panoramic sunroof to its package as well. Other than that, the range-topping Safari XZ+ can be had with an automatic transmission and is the only model to offer captain seats for the second row in the range.

While we are eager to see the official price announcement of the new Tata Safari in the country, the SUV is said to sit in the price range of around Rs 14.99 – 21.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will compete against the models like MG Hector Plus and the upcoming Mahindra XUV500 in the segment.t
