New Toyota Corolla Cross Urban Sport Trim Explained

The new Corolla Cross Urban Sport features visual updates compared to that of the regular model and is offered with a hybrid power plant.

The new 2020 Toyota Corolla Cross has been recently revealed by the carmaker and is expected to hit the Thai market by the end of September this year. Other foreign markets have to wait for a while for the SUV because of the production restrictions in Japan. The SUV will be positioned between the CH-R and RAV4 and will have a few commonalities with the regular Corolla. It rubs shoulders with the likes of Honda HR-V and Nissan Kicks. The SUV will be offered in two different trim levels namely- Urban Sport and Adventure There are only a few cosmetic differences between both the models.

Here we’ll be discussing about the Urban Sport trim because it gets notable visual updates. The 2020 Toyota Corolla Urban Cross gets blacked-out pillars and roof, sleek LED headlamps with LED DRLs, chromed window line, noticeable bumper with lower air inlets, squared all-black fenders at the front and rear, blacked-out grille inserts with a chrome border, machine-cut two-tone 18-inch alloy wheels, black side mirrors and body cladding, all-black rear bumper with faux diffuser. The rear fascia of the SUV gets wide chrome strip along with Cross badging. Inside, the SUV features an all-black cabin. It gets a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch MID and so on.

The 2020 Corolla Cross is based on the company’s TNGA-C platform and it employs safety features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep and steering assist, blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, around view cameras, rear cross-traffic alert system and much more. In terms of dimensions, the SUV is 4,640 mm long, 1,825 mm wide, 1,620 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,640 mm. It derives power from a 1.8-litre NA four-pot gasoline mill, which puts out 140bhp of power and 175 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a CVT. The hybrid trim uses a 600 V electric motor, which develops 72bhp and 163 Nm.
