Nissan Magnite to Launch On Dec-2, Could Be MORE AFFORDABLE Than Maruti Brezza & Hyundai Venue

Nissan India is betting big on the Magnite as the segment it competes in is a hotly contested one. The new sub-compact-SUV is slated to launch on December 2 and will go on to rival chartbusters like Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue and Maruti Vitara Brezza. To have an upper hand in the competition, Nissan is planning to launch the Magnite at a competitive price tag, which means prices of the base model could end up starting just north of Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom).

While the price details are still kept a secret, it is likely that Nissan will price the upcoming SUV aggressively. According to the leaked price lists, the Nissan Magnite will cost from Rs 5.50 lakh to Rs 8.15 lakh. You can refer to the leaked price list below:

As per the released details, Nissan Magnite measures 3,994 mm in length, 1,758 mm in width, and 1,572 mm in height. The wheelbase of Nissan Magnite stands at 2,500 mm. The ground clearance of the Nissan Magnite is 205 mm. The SUV features a 336-litre boot space which can be extended to 600 litres if the rear seats are folded up. In terms of safety, Nissan Magnite will come with a full load of features including dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensor, rear camera with projection guide, vehicle dynamic control, and many more.

About the powertrains, Nissan Magnite will be available with two choices of engines, a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol. While the former is capable of making 71 BHP and 96 Nm, the latter can generate 100 BHP and 160 Nm. A 5-speed manual gearbox will be available as standard in both engines. However, only the turbocharged unit gets a CVT gearbox option.

With the aggressive starting price of, say, Rs 5.5 lakh, Nissan Magnite will have a huge advantage over other rivals in its class, including Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza, and Toyota Urban Cruiser. This should help Nissan India revive its business in the local car market. Also, it may be noted that the Magnite will be joined by its mechanical twin Renaut Kiger next year.
