Nissan Magnite Turbo-Petrol Manual Vs CVT Acceleration Test - VIDEO

 When the Nissan Magnite was launched in December 2020, it was the cheapest compact SUV offering with an introductory price tag of Rs 4.99 lakh. Though the sub Rs 5-lakh price tag is not there anymore, the rest of the trim levels are priced the same and is a fair bit lower than all of its segment rivals bar its sibling the Renault Kiger. In fact, the Magnite’s prices see it compete against the likes of the Maruti Swift and the Hyundai Grand i10 as well. Today we have an acceleration test between the Magnite turbo-petrol’s manual and CVT variants.

As you will see in the video above, it is a straight shootout between the Nissan Magnite turbo-petrol manual and CVT  to check who is faster in a 0-100 kmph test. It will be a best of three runs for both vehicles. In the first attempt, the Magnite turbo-petrol manual reaches 100 kmph from a standstill in 11.55 seconds while the CVT takes 11.12 seconds for the same. The second time around the manual does the 0-100 sprint in 10.90 seconds which is its personal best while the CVT does it in 11.22 seconds. In the final run, the manual posts a 0-100 figure of 11.02 seconds, with the CVT posting its best time of 10.62 seconds. In general, the CVT was quicker by around half a second, the main reason being the automatic not needing to change gears.

The Nissan Magnite comes loaded with features like a multi-functional steering wheel, the centre-console gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with in-built Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a 7-inch TFT instrument console, and an around-view monitor display on the screen. It also gets a push-button start/stop system, power windows, automatic AC, rear AC vents, cruise control, etc. The higher models get extra features like a height-adjustable driver’s seat and a rear-seat armrest with 2 cupholders. Nissan is also offering an optional Tech Pack on the top models with even more creature comforts like a wireless charger, high-end speakers from JBL, an air purifier, ambient mood lighting, and puddle lamps.

Prices for the Nissan Magnite range from Rs 5.49 lakh – Rs 9.89 lakh, ex-showroom. You get the choice of two powertrains in the Nissan Magnite, a 1.0 litre 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol which makes 81 PS and 96 Nm of peak power and torque figures and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The other choice is a 1.0 litre 3-pot turbo-petrol that makes max figures of 100 PS/160 Nm with the 5-speed manual and 100 PS/152 Nm when paired to the CVT auto.
