Nissan has arrived all guns blazing with the new Magnite, with pricing that undercuts all its rivals and still offering the segment benchmark features. Read on to see its pricing compared to the Kia Sonet.

Nissan has launched the new Magnite in the Indian market today with an introductory starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh. Nissan is banking on the Magnite to be a hit among the customers as the brand has had a faltering tenure in the market to date. It joins the uber-competitive and crowded subcompact SUV market and will rival the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Maruti’s Vitara Brezza. Nissan is hoping that its aggressive pricing strategy and providing the same quality standards of the segment will garner buyers’ attention.

The under Rs 5 lakh starting price tag for the Nissan Magnite is only introductory though, valid until the end of the year. Even with the revised new year pricing of Rs 5.54 lakh, it will still undercut all of its competitors. If you compare the Magnite’s pricing with the Kia Sonet, the base version of the latter starts at Rs 6.71 lakh, a difference of over Rs 1 lakh. This difference in pricing only gets wider with the more premium trim levels. The top-end Magnite XV Premium comes in at Rs 9.35 lakh while the Sonet’s GTX Plus top trim is priced at Rs 13 lakh, a massive difference of over Rs 3.5 lakh. Do note all prices are ex-showroom.

But do not think that because the Nissan Magnite is much cheaper, it’ll skimp out on features and tech. On the contrary, it comes loaded with things like a multi-functional steering wheel, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with in-built Apple Carplay and Android Auto for the centre-console, a 7-inch TFT instrument console, and around view monitor display on the screen. It also gets a push-button start/stop system, power windows, automatic AC, rear AC vents, cruise control, etc. Nissan is also offering an optional Tech Pack on the top models with even more creature comforts like a wireless charger, high-end speakers from JBL, an air purifier, ambient mood lighting, and puddle lamps.
