Rivals are still shocked at how Nissan has managed to price the new Magnite at such low prices. Today we are comparing the XV Premium trim vs the similarly priced Kia Sonet HTK.

Nissan has surprised everybody by launching their Magnite sub-compact SUV with a starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh. This is a vast price difference compared to all of its segment rivals, undercutting them by a lakh rupees at least. The pricing is so aggressive that you would have to look at the likes of Maruti Swift or Hyundai Grand i10 to get comparable trims. With the rapid rise in demand for compact SUVs, the Magnite’s low prices may end up poaching sales from a different segment altogether. But to see how it fares against other compact SUVs, we have this comparison between the Magnite and the Kia Sonet.

The video has been uploaded by Plus Drive over on YouTube, and it compares the specs and features of the Nissan Magnite XV Premium against the Kia Sonet HTK. Both variants may be closely priced but the XV Premium is a much higher variant than the HTK trim. The Nissan also looks the more modern of the two with its angular design and myriad creases. The Sonet before the Magnite launched was the best looking compact SUV but looks a bit dated now, even though it has some nice touches like the single-piece tail lamps and chunky bumpers.

On the exterior, the Magnite XV Premium gets more features like LED bi-projector headlights with LED turn indicators, LED fog lamps and DRLs, chrome finish on the waist moulding and rear-quarter window moulding, electrically foldable and adjustable ORVMs, 16-inch alloys, and keyless entry and go. The Sonet HTK is a lower trim level and it shows as it doesn’t get either LED lights or alloy wheels. It also gets electrically adjustable only ORVMS.

Over to the interior, the theme continues as the Magnite XV Premium gets climate control, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with integrated wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, the centre console and fabric seats are finished in black with synthetic leather accents for the seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with grey stitching, “Around View Monitor” 360-degree camera system, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and power windows all around. Compared to this, The Sonet HTK gets only a semi-digital instrument console, manual AC, power windows for all doors, remote locking, steering mounted media controls, a simpler non-touch infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, 4 speakers, ‘UVO Lite’ connected features, all-black interior,semi-leatherette seats.
