Old Tata Nexon TOTALLED In A High Speed Crash, Passengers Walk Out Safely

Road accidents are fairly common in India, and one of the biggest causes of deaths in our country. In 2018, a total of 1,51,417 people were killed in road accidents in India. Statistics for 2019 have not been released by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways yet. With such a high mortality rate in 2018, no wonder we see and hear about tragic accidents every day on the news. Thankfully, road safety in India is slowly improving, largely due to the steps taken by auto manufacturers in improving vehicular safety. Here, we have one such example involving a Tata Nexon.

The pictures you see here were posted by Priyanjit Modal on a Facebook page called 'Tata Nexon Owner'. According to him, the accident had happened a few months ago, when the owner of the Nexon was overspeeding and managed to topple the vehicle. The service centre executives also informed him that all the occupants of the car were unharmed and managed to escape safely with no major injuries.

As the car had rolled multiple times, we can see the damage is quite extensive. The front bumper has been ripped off, while the front grille and the radiator are barely hanging on. The roof has caved in at the front left side of the car, along with the A- and B-pillars on that side. Surprisingly, all other pillars are intact. The rear passenger door on the right side of the car is also bashed in, although, the C-pillar on that side is intact, the body panels over it are damaged. Both the front and the rear windshields are also smashed up. The front-wheel seems fine but the axle does not seem to be in shape anymore.

This particular model is the pre-facelift Tata Nexon [2017 - 2019]. It was the first car by an Indian carmaker to score a 5-star rating in adult occupant safety in Global NCAP crash tests. It had two engine options on offer- a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel. The former was capable of generating 110 PS and 170 Nm, while the latter belts out 110 PS and 260 Nm.
