Renault HBC (Maruti Brezza rival) Imagined In A New Digital Illustration

Renault India has recently quite a success in the Indian car market with the Kwid and the Triber. The Duster is expected to receive a new engine (and probably a minor facelift), after which its popularity is expected to increase once again. Now, the only vehicle missing from Renault’s range is a subcompact SUV. In fact, Renault is one of the few major passenger car manufacturers in India that don’t have a sub-4-metre SUV in its line-up. That is set to change soon though, with the introduction of the Renault Kiger (HBC).

Here, we have a video of a digital rendering of the upcoming Renault HBC. This render showcases what the upcoming subcompact Renault SUV could potentially look like. The front end is sharp, with sleek headlamp design. The halogen foglamps are relatively high-mounted. The side profile is quite simplistic. The front and rear overhangs are quite small, thus maximising the wheelbase and improving interior space. The C-pillar is quite thick, like many other subcompact SUVs. The taillight design is quite unique, probably inspired the ‘comma’ shaped lights of the 2020 Renault Captur. The car also sports black-coloured cladding all around, which helps lend it a muscular look.

Renault HBC has been spied multiple times during road testing, and is expected to be launched in India before the end of this year. It will be underpinned by the same CMF-A+ as the Renault Triber. Although the specifications have not been officially unveiled there has been a lot of speculation about the powertrain. It is expected to be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine, capable of producing 95 PS of maximum power. It will be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT.

There might also be an entry-level version powered by a naturally aspirated, 1.0-litre petrol engine, which can generate 73 PS and 96 Nm. The same platform and powerplants will also be shared with the Nissan Magnite. Upon launch, the Renault HBC will have to compete against the likes of Mahindra XUV300 and TUV300, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, and Honda WR-V.
