Take a look at this rendering of the production-spec Renault Kiger. Doesn't it look amazing? The new model will rival Nissan Magnite and Maruti Brezza among others

The sub-4m compact-SUV space is currently the hottest one in the Indian car market. Recently, Nissan unveiled the Magnite, which is reportedly scheduled to go on sale in the country on November 26. The Magnite is underpinned by the Renault-Nissan CMF-A+ platform. Based on the same platform, Renault Kiger Concept has also been unveiled recently, and its production-spec avatar is likely to go on sale by early next year. Following the footsteps of the transition of Magnite from its concept form to production-spec model, we can assume that the Kiger will roll off the production line with just a few changes. But, how distinctive or similar it will look like in comparison to the concept model? Here’s a digital rendering of the Renault Kiger made by our in-house digital artist – Shoeb R. Kalania - to give you an idea.

In the above image, it can be seen that the production version of the Renault Kiger looks largely the same as the concept model. However, it adheres to a few changes to become road-legal. Talking of these changes, first and foremost are the wheels and tyres. In the rendering here, the Kiger gets a set of diamond-cut alloy wheels, which look great on its sporty silhouette. Then, there are conventional ORVMs and door handles.

On the front, it gets multi-projector setup for the vertically-split headlamps. Moreover, the massive air vents seen below the headlamps on the concept model are now replaced with rather subtle honey-comb mesh. The Kiger will get a sleek LED DRLs, which would run across its width and sit right beneath the bonnet. Another noticeable change here are the roof rails, which are expected to be functional units as is the case with the Magnite. On the concept model, however, a big roof rack can be seen, which we think Renault will offer as an optional extra.

Talking of the powertrain options, Renault Kiger will come with two engine options – 1.0L N/A petrol and 1.0L turbo-petrol. Both of these motors will sport a 3-pot configuration. The naturally-aspirated motor is expected to churn out 72 PS and 96 Nm of peak output, whereas the turbocharged counterpart will produce 100 PS and 160 Nm of max output. The gearbox options will include a 5-speed MT and a CVT. Once launched, the Renault Kiger will rival the likes of Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Nissan Magnite and Ford EcoSport.
