Here’s a new digital rendering of the upcoming Renault Kwid-based crossover SUV that will hit the Indian shores by the end of this year and rival the Maruti Vitara Brezza

Renault is currently working on an all-new compact SUV for the Indian market. The new five-seat SUV will share a lot with the upcoming Nissan Magnite and will underpin the company’s CMF-A+ platform. The Renault SUV will be manufactured locally and is expected to be priced aggressively in the Indian market. It’ll also share a lot of common features with new Kwid and Triber. But, what if the carmaker tries to make it a premium offering? Here’s a new rendering of the Kwid based SUV by Kleber Silva.

Upfront, the SUV looks quite aggressive as it gets blacked-out grille with horizontal slats along with sharp headlamps and LED DRLs. The front grille also gets Renault badging with some premium chrome inserts. On the side, the Kwid based SUV employs two-tone machined alloy wheels, black cladding on wheel arches and doors, blacked-out B and C-pillar, sloping roofline, raked windshield, big rear quarter glass and blacked-out side mirrors.

The rear fascia of the SUV features LED taillights, sporty-looking spoiler, some chrome inserts, mono exhaust and faux skid plate. In India, the French carmaker has established itself as a volume player with Kwid and Triber, but if Renault has plans to introduce an affordable crossover SUV in our marker under Rs 10 lakh then, it could look like this rendering by Kleber Silva. The upcoming crossover will likely to be powered by a 1.0-litre three-pot turbo petrol engine with a maximum power of 100 PS. It will go on to rival the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza but could be more affordable. For reference, the Brezza is priced between Rs 7.34-11.4 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

The same power plant will be even offered on select variants of the Renault Triber. The new petrol engine is related to the 1.3-litre four-pot turbocharged unit that was recently introduced on the BS6 Nissan Kicks. Along with the turbo petrol engine, the new Kicks is also available with a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol unit that puts out power and torque outputs of 105bhp and 142 Nm. Transmission duties are done by a 5-speed MT, 6-speed MT or a CVT. It rubs shoulders with the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The new BS6 Nissan Kicks is priced between Rs 9.5 lakh to Rs 14.15 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
