Functions of RTO Offices In Chennai

2. Types of driving license issued and other related services in RTO Chennai

  • Fresher’s driving license

  • International driving license

  • Two-wheeler without gear: The license holder can control this type of two-wheeler that comes under MCWOG (Motor Cycle without Gears) such as moped bikes, scooters without gears, etc.

  • Heavy commercial vehicle: Applicant must be at or over 18 years of age and get 8th standard qualified with driving training certificate granted by the training school under the state government.

  • License for LMV: Applicants must be 18 years old or above with the required documents.

3. Types of Vehicle Registration in RTO Chennai

There are two types of vehicle registration offered in Chennai RTOs:

  • Temporary Vehicle Registration: temporary vehicle registration is granted for vehicles which need to be transported to another state. Temporary Vehicle Registration has a validity of one month and is issued within 3 days after examining the vehicle.

  • Permanent Vehicle Registration: Permanent vehicle registration is mandatory under Section 39 of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988. Within 7 days after purchasing the vehicle, one should submit the application for the permanent vehicle registration in the nearest RTO.
