In this Skoda Kushaq Vs Hyundai Creta comparison, we pit the two compact SUVs against each other in terms of specs, features, design and dimensions

Skoda has just globally unveiled its all-new Kushaq in India and first impressions of it are very positive. The Kushaq combines attractive looks, sorted driving dynamics, safety features, and powerful engines to make it a very eye-catching proposition. It is the first VW group vehicle to be launched that uses the new MQB-A0-IN platform. The Kushaq will be competitively priced against its rivals, with its 95% localisation of parts helping keep costs low. Since the Kushaq aims to be the best-selling compact SUV in India, it has to dislodge its current king, the Hyundai Creta. Today we have got this specs, features, design, and dimension comparison of the Skoda Kushaq vs Hyundai Creta.

EXTERIOR DESIGN

Starting our Skoda Kushaq Vs Hyundai Creta Comparison with the design, the Czech offering retains most of its design from the Vision IN concept, and it is a handsome looking vehicle. The second-generation Creta, on the other hand, has polarized consumers as some like its design while some do not. The Creta front-end gets split LED headlamps with the new Hyundai grille, with the rear-end getting a split-LED taillight design as well. Compared to this the Kushaq follows a more conventional design, but that doesn’t mean it looks dated. Its signature Skoda butterfly grille is flanked by split-LED headlights which look sleeker. The overall proportions of the Kushaq are spot on with skid plates on the front and rear, contrast body cladding and crisp line give the Skoda a no-nonsense look. The Creta’s styling is bolder with much more crease and features, especially in the side profile but its oddball face makes it an SUV that you either like or do not like.

INTERIOR DESIGN

Both SUVs get pleasant interiors with the Hyundai Creta opting for a more traditional design with a large touchscreen infotainment system sitting neatly under the sleek AC vents. The Skoda Kushaq gets a more aggressive interior design with a layered effect dashboard and gloss black trims on the dual-tone interior. Both vehicles are loaded to the brim with features, but there are a few key differences. Being a Hyundai, the Creta comes with more features. It gets a panoramic sunroof compared to the Kushaq’s normal one, a fully digital instrument cluster gives you myriads of information while the Skoda gets a classier looking but less informative analogue setup with a MID in the middle. The Creta also gets a larger infotainment screen and driving and traction modes. Features like ventilated front seats, connected car tech, cruise control, wireless charging and more are standard on both vehicles.

Coming to powertrains, the Skoda Kushaq will be offered with two petrol engines. There’s a 1-litre TSI three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine which also powers the Rapid sedan and the VW Polo. The other option is a 1.5-litre turbo petrol that is shared with the VW T-Roc. The Hyundai Creta also offers 2 petrol engines, but also offers a diesel unit as well. The 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol in the Creta makes similar power figures to the Kushaq but produces less torque as it is naturally aspirated. The other petrol is a 1.4-litre turbocharged unit.  The bigger engine produces 10 PS and 8 Nm less than the Kushaq’s engine. The Creta’s diesel unit is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 115 PS and 250 Nm of peak power and torque figures.

Hyundai recently revealed 51% of the Creta’s sold are equipped with the diesel engine, showing that market demand for diesels is still huge even with skyrocketing prices. The Skoda Kushaq is not available with a diesel engine currently, so if you’re looking for an oil-burner compact SUV, you’ll have to look at the Creta instead. Gearbox choices for the Skoda Kushaq include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter automatic and a 7-speed DSG option for the 1.5-litre engine. The Hyundai Creta comes with the option of a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic. The 1.4-litre turbo-petrol Creta comes exclusively with a 7-speed DCT, unlike the Kushaq whose bigger engine can be mated to the manual as well. We hope our Skoda Kushaq Vs Hyundai Creta Comparison helps you choose better.
